Extracting high-purity nickel oxide from a kind of scrap containing nickel named nickel-iron alloy was mainly studied in this paper. On the other hand the scrap containing nickel was comprehensively utilized to produce pigment containing iron.Some improvement was taken on the basis of the traditional process in this paper. Iron was removed with the jarosite process and ferric hydroxid;Copper was removed with sodium thiosulfate instead of sodium sulfide;Sodium fluoride was used to remove calcium and magnesium;Precipitator was not sodium carbonate but sodium hydroxide;With single factor and orthogonal experiments,the main factor that affects the recovery rate nickel and the purity of nickel oxide was determined and the optimum conditions of the new process were found out;Compared with the traditional process,the new process makes the recovery rate of nickel increase from 85% to 95.8%,the purity of nickel oxide from 76% to77.3%,and protects environmental.Velocity equation of nickel leaching was determined during the calcinations-leaching of the scrap in this paper.
