In this paper, the synthesis of N-(biphenylylmethyl)-2,4-imidazolidinedione (16a-d) and N-(p-D-2', 3', 4' ,6' -tetra-O-acetylgluco-pyranose)-5-(4'-methylbiphenyl-2-yl)tetrazole (19) has been described. These compounds (16a-d, 19) were synthesized by Phase-Transition Catalysis under the moderate reaction condition (NaHC03 solution, room temperature). The structures of all compounds were confirmed by IR, NMR , MS spectra. In addition, N-(p-D-2', 3',4',6'-tetra-0-acetylglucopyranose) -5-(4' -methyl-biphenyl-2-yl)tetrazole (19) was confirmed to be the P- configuration. Therefore , the synthetic reaction of 19 is stereoselective.
