The clear liquid height, gradient of liquid level and velocity distribution of liquid phase on CTST were measured and studied theoretically in the experimental column with inside diameter of 1000mm.The velocity distribution of liquid phase on CTST was measured by means of dynamic pressure measurements. The flow feature of liquid phase on CTST was obtained. The results indicate that the velocity of liquid phase on the plate increases with the intensity of overflow and decreases with the increase of the height of outlet weir. The effect of the gas rate of tray holes on the velocity distribution of liquid phase is less than the other factors. With the increase of gas rate of tray holes the velocity of liquid phase on plate only increases a little between caps.The clear liquid height was measured by communicating pipe. The results indicate that the distribution of liquid height is different from traditional trays. The clear liquid height increases with the liquid flow and the height of weir, and decreases with the increase of the gas rate and then return. The gradient of liquid level of CTST is less than that of sieve plate.The liquid-phase flow on CTST was described by turbulent flow model of k- e and integrated boundary conditions. The comparison of the results of the calculations and the experiments indicates that the model can reflect the true liquid flow on CTST well.
