Development of High Characteristics and Non-spatter Inverter Type CO2 Welding Power Source Abstract CO2 gas shield arc welding is used more and more widely because of its some advantages such as high efficiency, low electricity consumption and so on. However~ it is until now that the problems like large spatter and bad formation of weld bead have not been solved success, which restricts the CO2 welding form being popularized and applied. At the present time, although inverter welding power source has also been widely used owing to its excellent technological characteristics, we know that there is still a long way for our country to keep pace with advanced countries in term of this - technology. In order to solve these problems, several study are done in this paper as follows. The IGBT module is used as power changeover switch, and the full-bridge topology has been used in the form of the power source. The hardware and software are designed to meet the need of speed and precise, which a high -speed micro controller 80C]96KB is the center of the controlling system. The designed micro controller system is of high speed and of strong disturbance resistance. Having been subject to a lot of technical experiments, the system is tested to be reliable. The dynamic information in the short- circuiting transferring of CO2 I welding is obtained and processed by a high property datum collecting and anglicizing system. The welding voltage is used to judge the starting-moment not only of the droplet short-circuiting, but also of the short circuit-liquid bridge pinching by its second derivative. Based on this, the several scheme for current waveform control in short circuiting transfer of CO2 welding have been drafted A reliable hardware and software system for current waveform control is build up. The output circuit inductor is design to meet the need offiltering, high- speed controlling and acquiring continual welding current waveform, though calculate and experiment the quantity of inductance is chosen from 100 to 200uH.Compa red with several ways of waveform controlling, an effective way by the current feedback in coordination with PWM given directly has been advanced in this paper.
