Over the last three decades, conjugated polymers as a kind of hole- transporting material have attracted much attention in many disciplines of modem materials science and technology for their electrical, magnetic, and optical properties. It has been well knowed that poly-Schiff bases show good mechanical strength, attractive thermal stability and fiber-forming properties, due to bearing both conjugated structure and triamine groups. In this thesis ,we newly synthesized a functional monomer tripheny- amine(TPA).This monomer was further reacted with two dialdehydes to give four poly-Schiff bases with the method of condensation polymerization. These polymers were confirmed by elemental analysis,IR,UV-VIS, 1H-NMR spectroscopy. It was found that the synthesized poly-Schiff bases are soluble in some common organic solvents such as chloroformand tetrahydrofiiran. We also investigated the structure and properties of the electro-optic moieties of polymers by DTA,DSC andX-ray diffraction method, respectively. In addition, the photoconductive and electro-optic moietie was studied with TOF method(time of flight)technique which can potentially be utilized as photorefi-active material. The hole carrier mobility was determined to be IO~cm2/V s. -II- Abstract Furthermore, the polymers can be used as optic storage materials. The measure mersurement of optic storage was carried out by using photoinduced bireftingence method. The measure principles of photo-induced birefringence was shown in chapter 5 .The experimental results implied the more advantageous properties of permanent storage in the laser. The experimental results implied that the synthesized polymers are excellent for the application of hole-transporting material. In conclusion, we summarized the contents and results of this thesis.
