In recent years, the application of polymer and polymer/ferrite has been paidmore and more attention. PANI has great application prospect on electromagneticcomposite materials owing to its good conductivity. Polystyrene has characters ofgood transparency and electric insulation and shaping easily, which is a disconjugatedpolymer. Based on it, in this thesis, PANI/ferrite (PANI/CoFe2O4 fiber compositesand PANI/ZnFe2O4 nano-composite material) was prepared and their electromagneticproperties was characterized. Polystyrene (PS) nano-rods were successfullysynthesized by interfacial polymerization (IP) andThis thesis mainly consists of threemajor aspects.1. CoFe2O4 with a hollow fiber structure was prepared using cotton fiber as thetemplate and PANI/CoFe2O4 fiber composites was successfully synthesized within-situ polymerization process. The test results showed that the concentration of soaksolution would have effect on the morphology of the CoFe2O4, which would be theimportant factor of the variation of the magnetic property of CoFe2O4. The fibercomposites possessed both conductivity and magnetism. Their electromagneticproperties would change with the content of the CoFe2O4 in the composite materials.2. PANI/ZnFe2O4 nanocomposite materials with electromagnetic property wasprepared with an improved sol-gel and in-situ and characterized by TEM, X-raydiffraction (XRD), Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) spectra, four-probeelectrometer, and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The results indicated thatPANI/ZnFe2O4 material was nanosized and there was strong bonding interactionbetween ZnFe2O4 and PANI in the material. The material possessed both conductivityand magnetism. The electromagnetic properties of the nanocomposite materials wouldchange with the content and dispersion state of the ZnFe2O4 in the compositematerials.3. Polystyrene (PS) nano-rods were successfully synthesized by interfacialaddition polymerization (IP) firstly. TEM, SEM, SAED, FT-IR and GPC techniqueswere used to characterize the PS samples with regard to their morphologies andstructures. The results showed that the diamater of PS nano-rod was 20 nm and the monomer concentration, reaction time and temperature and the different organicsolvent would have effect on the morphology. The SAED analysis proved that PS washexagonal lattice which was the same as the single-chain single crystal of i-PS. GPCproved that the relative molecular weight was small and the molecular weightdistribution was narrow.
