Currently Chinese athletes are not doing very well in cycling contests. Apart from adjusting the training volume and training methods, it is also important to improve the cycling equipment such as cycling wears and etc.. The cyclist will be benefit from less wind-resistance because cycling sports are affected by the wind-resistance. Therefore this paper presents a research on seamless cycling wear with wind-resistant property which can help cyclist achieve better results in contests.In order to design the comfortable cycling wear adapted to the cycling status, this paper uses methods such as measuring the body size of people both at the standing and cycling status to determine the basic specification size of the seamless cycling wears; designing the format drawings and structure diagrams of cycling wears according to the aspect of lessening wind-resistance based on the research of the boundary layer theory and form resistance; and using advanced seamless knitting technology for the production of seamless cycling wears. The structural design of seamless cycling wears is a creative research, and the study of seamless cycling wears with wind-resistant property is a new developing direction for the research of cycling wears. This study combines structural design and seamless knitting technology to develop cycling wears with wind-resistant property.Main conclusions of this research are as follows:1.Measure and analyse the body sizes to find the change law of these sizes at different status between standing and cycling: the sizes of chest circumference, back width, back length, back body length, back armhole length, waist circumference, hip circumference, upper arm circumference, thigh circumference and back crotch length become larger, while the sizes of chest width, front body length, front armhole length, shoulder width, front crotch length become smaller, thus to establish the basic specification size of the seamless cycling wears.2.By researching on the boundary layer theory and the form resistance to find the theoretical foundation of designing seamless cycling wears with wind-resistant property, as well as by the basic specification size and the characteristic of the seamless knitting technology, this paper designs the format drawings and structure diagrams of cycling wears adapted to the cycling status.3.In wind tunnel with different winding speed, the wind-resistances of totally six cycling wears- No. 1 and No. 2 seamless cycling wears adapted to the cycling status, No. 1 cycling wear with seam adapted to the cycling status, No. 1 seamless cycling wear adapted to the standing status, current CCN and IZUMI cycling wears and etc. are measured by the wind tunnel experiments. The experimental conclusion is the wind-resistant property of No. 1 and No. 2 seamless cycling wears and IZUMI cycling wear is better than the others.4. Athletes put on No. 1, No. 2 seamless cycling wears and IZUMI cycling wear separately and then do the subjective evaluation of the overall comfort. The conclusion is No. 1 seamless cycling wear is better for meeting the requirement of cycling athelets'wearing comfort.This research explores a new way for the cycling wear design, and this kind of seamless cycling wear makes athletes feel more body comfort and effectively corresponds to aerodynamic characteristics, and also avoids fiction feeling caused by side seams of clothing, so the research in this paper can help the athelets get better results in contests. In addition, the study provides guidance for the production technology of seamless cycling wears, which can also get the innovative R&D results with the independent intellectual property.
