Hollow glass microspheres (HGM) is new filling-material, which has higher intensity,which has lower density and higher melting point. Composites of hollow glass microspheres (HGM)filled epoxy resin were manufactured, which has lower density, higher strength and less saturated water absorption. The density of the composite is 0.71 g/cm3.Its compressive strength is 64.5 MPa. The water gain at saturation is less than 2.1%.The silane coupling agent KH-550 treated the hollow glass beads.The activity has been characterized to test glass beads.It was found that modified glass beads is from hydrophilic to pro-oil, It's better filled to the epoxy resin.We studied the optimum curing agent content respectively using ethylenediamine, polyamide, as epoxy curing agent and compared their mechanical properties to choose the best one. It was found that the epoxy resin cured by polyamide had the best mechanical properties, the optimum curing agent content was 1:0.9(wt);the compressive strength was 81.7MPa, density was 1.08g/cm3,water absorbing capacity was less than 0.25%.Hollow glass microspheres (HGM) added to the epoxy resin, the preparation of glass beads of different contents of composite materials, We studied material density, compressive strength,hardness and water absorption It was found that the density of composite material reduce the increase in the content, including the mass fraction of 20% of glass beads of density of the material can be achieved 0.71g/cm3.The content of glass beads with an increase in compressive strength of composite materials and also reduces the hardness to the mass fraction of glass beads of 20%,the compressive strength and hardness decreased rapidly. Saline coupling agent modified glass beads added to the epoxy resin, the compressive strength have improved. Water absorption of composite materials with increased content of glass beads followed by increased silane coupling agent modified, composite materials significantly reduce the water absorption.
