In the pass decades, Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) has shown increasing success in the biomedical research and applications, it will play an important role in the clinical diagnoses. MRS enable noninvasive quantification of in vivo metabolite concentrations in the brain. It has proved to be a powerful addition to the clinical assessment tools for numerous pathologic conditions, including epilepsy, stroke, cancer, and metabolic diseases. However, the great and potential value of MRS can not be brought into fullp lay in realities, especially for the clinical MRS in vivo. Currently, MRS quantifications are most often expressed as relevant concentration rather than absolute concentration. For the complexity of MRS and the limitation of quantification, there is a long way for MRS to be successfully applied in clinical practice.According to the limitation of application for MRS, we summarized all the processing and quantification methods for MRS. And then ZoomFFT was introduced to the processing of MRS, the quantification method based on ZoomFFT was proposed. There are three parts in this paper:First, based on the development of MRS quantification at home and abroad, a brief overview of the preprocessing and quantification methods is given, then we discussed the benefits and disadvantages of each method in examples using simulated MRS. It could be regarded as a reference for the medical research and clinical application. Subsequently, the principle and application of ZoornFFT was introduced, which is an algorithm to improve the resolution of signal. Finally, faced with problems such as low resolution and multiplets, we proposed the quantification method based on ZoomFFT to solve the problems. The quantification based on ZoomFFT was proved to improved the accuracy of quantification and decreased the difficulty in several examples using simulated and clinical MRS.The introduction of ZoomFFT create a new way for the quantification research and analysis of MRS in biomedical research and clinical practice. There are also expectations that ZoomFFT promote the wide application of MRS both in research and clinical practice, and created more value for the MRS.
