From June 2008 to June 2009, in Xingkai Lake National Nature Reserve in Sanjiang plans and in Honghe National Nature Reserve, by the use of observation method, GPS positioning method, combining with sampling methods, conducting a field survey on the nest site habitat selection of Oriental white stork. We have recorded a total of 16 natural nests (eight in Xingkai Lake, eight in Honghe), including used aitificial nests(six in Xingkai Lake, nine in Honghe) and unused artificial nests (three in Xingkai Lake, three in Honghe). Besides, by the use of T test, U test, chi-square test, principal component analysis and so on, making a comparative study between the natural nests of Oriental white stork, used artificial nest and unused artificial nests of the nest-site habitat selection. Meanwhile, making an evaluation order on the nest-site habitat selection of oriental white stork natural nests in the two nature reserves and the used artificial nests.Through the principal component analysis on nest-site habitat selection of Oriental White Stork natural nest and the used artificial nests, the accumulated contribution rates of principal component factor account to 86.323% and 71.720% respectively. The common major factors were nest factor, interference factor, water factor and food factor. Through comparison of the main factors, the results show that through T test on the factor that for normal distribution, the interference factor P=0.047. It is of significant difference, at the same time, we conductedχ2 test on nido, P=0.000, it is of significant difference. Compared with the nest-site habitat factors of Oriental White Stork used artificial nests and unused artificial nests in Sanjiang Plain, P values of nest height, nest diameter, nest short tracks, fossa depth were 0.015,0.001,0.006,0.047 repectively, it is of significant difference.Through the principal component analysis on nest-site habitat selection of Oriental White Stork natural nests in Xingkai Lake and in Honghe reserves, the accumulated contribution rates of principal component factor account to 95.338%,91.940% respectively. The common major factors were nest factor, promiscuous nest factor, interference factor, water factor and food factor. Through comparison of the main factors, the results show that through T test on the factor that for normal distribution, the nest-site factor is high. And throughχ2 test on tree species factor, P values were 0.000 and 0.008, it is of significant difference. Through T test on the factor that for normal distribution, P values of tree number, the average dbh of tree and tree position that madeχ2 test were 0.000,0.000,0.002 repectively, it is of significant difference. Compared with nest-site habitat factor of Oriental White Stork used artificial nests in Xingkai and Honghe reserves, P value of all factors is over 0.05, it is of no significant difference.Based on the principal component analysis of nest-site habitat selection of Oriental white stork natural nest and used artificial nest in Sanjiang Plain, we established the nest-site habitat evaluation model of Oriental white stork used nests. We verify the nest-site habitat of natural nests, used artificial nests of the two areas in Sanjiang Plain. It showed that the nest-site habitat of Honghe Nature Reserve natural nest in Sanjiang Plain toped out, it is more suitable for the nest-site habitat needs of Oriental White Stork. The ranking distribution of nest-site habitat of used artificial nests of the two areas is bascially even, it can meet the nest-building needs of Oriental White Wtork completely.
