Study On The Failure Mechanism And Stability Of Soil Slope

With the rapid development of the national economy and the recent rise of the Civil Engineering Industry, such as road traffic and railways, more and more projects encounter the inevitable problems in the stability of soil slope. Different deformation and failure modes of the soil slope, the consequences and people's responses are also quite different. Therefore, it is necessary for the systemic research on the failure mode, failure mechanism and the stability evaluation of soil slope, to meet the requirements of the project construction and the protection of life and property security.Through a summary analysis of existing data, starting with the structure type of soil slope, soil slope is divided into homogeneous soil slope, loose soil slope and dual structure soil slope. On the basis of summing up the damage types of soil slope can be divided into overall instability and slopingsurfaces failure. The overall instability can be divided into landslide, collapse and slump. The failure modes and mechanism of soil slope are analyzed. Then, the slope stability factors are classified and summarized, which are divided into external factors and internal factors. Combining with static analysis and numerical simulation methods, the specific impact of various factors (such as mechanical parameters, free surface, seepage condition and hand excavation etc.) on slope stability is analyzed, thus summing up the changes of slope stability factor. Methods on soil slope stability evaluation are summarized, and comparative analysis of examples in different conditions is made to select the recommended method with little calculation error. Appropriate methods of stability evaluation in different failure modes are proposed, the chart for preliminary judgments of slope stability is also manufactured. Finally, through the analysis on specific example of slope failure, the assessment process, analysis methods and their results on soil slope stability are verified.
