Polarization remote sensing is a kind of new reconnaissance method, which uses the polarization characteristics of the objects'scattering light as detecting information. The differences of the natural background and camouflage objects in polarization degree and polarization characteristics could be used to distinguish camouflage effectively, which achieved high veracity and made the existing of the military objects very dangerous. It was very limited for present camouflage technology to confront with polarization remote sensing reconnaissance. Developing new camouflage screen to confront with polarization remote sensing reconnaissance was very important for increasing the surviving capability of the objects and winning the future advanced technology war.In this dissertation, the polarization scattering character and influencing factors of the camouflage coating and camouflage screen were analyzed by testing polarization parameters and comparing polarization imaging in detail. Polarization scattering theory and controlling methods of the camouflage coating were studied systemically. Meanwhile, camouflage screen with polarization camouflage effect, which had good camouflage qualities in visible light, infrared and radar wavebands, was designed successfully for the first time.There were two modalities for the action of camouflage coating and light. One was surface scattering, the other was volume scattering. At the same time, these two scattering processes contained single scattering and multiple scattering. Single scattering could arouse polarization, while multiple scattering could counteract polarization. Along with the increasing of the volume content, multiple scattering increased inside of the coating, and the polarization degree of the scattering light decreased gradually. The relationship between coating's refractive index and polarization degree met power law. The relationship between scattering modulus and non-polarizing modulus of the paint met logarithm law. The scattering modulus was very great inside the camouflage coat, and the volume scattering lights were non-polarizing lights.The experiments showed that the surface appearance of the coating had great effect to the polarization scattering characteristics. The polarization degree of the scattering lights decreased as the surface fractal dimensions increased. The surface roughness of the coating could be accommodated by the printing method, thereby the polarization scattering characteristics could be controlled. The polarization degree and reflectivity of the coating assumed inverse ratio connection. Objects with low reflectivity had great polarization degree characteristics in the background. Therefore, polarization scattering characteristics could be controlled by the designing of surface roughness and reflectivity.
