Based on the tectonic mapping of the Chuhe fault (from Qintaishan to Caoxielin in Chaohu area),this paper finds out the Chuhe fault is composed of several faults which have the same occurrences and characters, and to form the imbricate structure in sections; The brittle fracture gave priority to this fault, the tectonite are developed, mostly such as the tectonic breccia , the cataclasite and smithereens, and three large tectonite zones are developed in it, these breccia zones are separately represented the three strong deformation belts. On this basis, the characteristics of the Chuhe fault (Geometry and kinematics) are found out, the characteristics of the tectonite are discussed, and these tectonites experienced several issues of the fault overlay on it; In the field, the scratchs of many faults are statisticed and measured, then , this paper utilized the programme to inversing the ancient stress field's evolution of the study area by the computer program developed by Southern University in Paris, France. On the foundation of the dynamics background by our predecessors , the evolution process and characteristics of each phases are discussed, that is to say , the Chuhe fault zone has experienced four periods, the thrust extrusion during the orogeny period , the sinistral strike-slip during Late Triassic to Early cretaceous; the extend down fault during Early Cretaceous and resulted in the sinistral strike-slip movement; the extend down fault during Early Cretaceous to the Paleocene ;the thrust extrusion during the Neogene. On the foundation of research on the Chuhe fault , it is considered that it is a boundary fault in the Lower Yangtze area, which controlled the deposition of Chu-Quan seg in the northwest and affected the tectonic deformation of the Chao-Han heave in the southeast. As an important part of the Tan-Lu fault zone ,it has good consistency with the Tan-Lu fault zone in the structural characteristics and evolution.
