The Research On The Communication Of The Evolution Theory In The PRC

The evolution theory was firstly introduced to the Chinese publics in the form of the social Darwinism under the social and culture background with Chinesefeature s. This has caused fierce influence on both the Chinese intellectuals and ordinary people in the aspects of politics, ethics and psychics, of course, including the supporters and opponents. Finally, the evolution theory has been evolved into a kind of ideology, and also has been simplified as survival of the fittest, falling behind should be beaten, struggling increases one's ability and others. According to the communication of the evolution theory in China, many scholars have done the rough researches, especially to the early period, such as James Seeve Pusey and his book China and Darwin. However, the research on the communication of the evolution theory after the foundation of the PRC is rare, particularly in the lack of the case study.This thesis takes the evolution theory reports of People's Daily as the subject. The science communication course of the evolution theory reports in sixty years is divided into five study time-periods, according to the social history development since 1949. The time-periods are as follows:early period, from 1949 to 1956; tortuous development period, from 1957 to 1965; declining period, from 1966 to 1976; retrieving and developing period, from 1977 to 1990; reflecting and exploring period, from 1991 to 2009.This research includes the following aspects:the basic statistics and analysis of the evolution reports, the characteristics of the evolution terms, the agenda setting and the reflected evolution viewpoint of the reports in each time-period, and the reflection on the science communication course of the evolution theory in China. Based on the above references and materials, this thesis explores that, under the tendency of moving to modernization, views reflected in these theories of evolution reports are always associated with the local circumstances and social conditions of China at that time. Through the Chinese feature communication, the natural science—evolution with the color of Social Darwinism, supports the political view that struggle is reasonable and revolution is rational.
