Xigeda layer is the famous late Cenozoic stratum in the southwest of China, originally called "Hundan layer", and according to its actual exposed location of Xigeda village, it renamed "Xigeda layer". Xigeda layer is mainly located in the valley area of Jinsha River and its branches such as Anning River, Dadu River and Yalong River, and it is composed of gray green, gray black and sallow clay rock, silty claystone and siltstone.Xigeda layer is extremely soft rock, and its characteristics are low strength, weak cementation, big deformation and strong environmental and time effects. Under the changed environmental conditions, the mechanical property of the Xigeda layer strongly reduced, especially the clay minerals such as expanded minerals, soluble minerals and soft rock within organic. The time effects of the layer not only showed the characteristic of strongly and quickly weathered, but also rheological characterization. And the matter component and structure character determined the changeability of the mechanical property, so it made the deformation and stability of the soft rock to be the significant problem in engineering construction.The engineering site is located on southeast of Jingjiu industrial park in Xichang City, according to entire distribution, on the temporary slope during the work progress and permanent slope in future, all refer to the accumulation and excavation of slope in the Xigeda layer, so the slop stability of this slope become one of the major engineering geological problem. Among others, it is mainly relative to the rheological characterization, especially the change of the intensive parameters. Obviously, it is necessary to carry out the creep test, and get the parameters of creep. And, it can provide references for the future engineering project of the Xigeda layer, and it has far-reaching meanings.According to the creep test, this thesis analyzed the creep characteristics in Xigeda layer and determined the creep parameters and long-time strength. And it has predict the development situation of creep deformation in long time after slope excavation. And used the Plaxis finite element software to simulate the creep process after slope excavation, and calculate the results of creep deformation, at last provide the support suggests.
