With the development of virtual simulation technology, virtual plants have been widely used in education,entertainment,agricultural research and so on many domains. Virtual plant has become an important area of the computer graphics research. Virtual plant refers to using virtual reality technology to simulate plant growth and development in the three-dimensional space on the computer, the process is targeted at individual plants, with three-dimensional effects and visualization functions. According to the different parts of plant growth,virual plant research includes study of the aerial parts of the research and Root. Either in theory or application,the virtual root is very important.This paper analyzes the virtual plant roots at home and abroad Research, introduces more commonly used virtual plant simulation methods, on that basis, selects with L-systems and two-scale automata combined to build a l structure model of the form of sweet potato root.At the same time based on artificial life method,this paper combines the soil moisture and other factors, simulates the process of growth and development of sweet potato root, and achieves the simulation of the earthnut.The simulation results will be applied to the the secondary school teaching of biology experiments.
