Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL) is an equipment, which is combined by some sub-accelerator. Since 1988, when it was built, it has supplied a lot of beam for both ion nuclear physics and applications experiments. Radio frequency systems are the critical systems for energy accelerator. In order to accelerate the particles, radio frequency voltage will be added to the RF cavity when the accelerator is running. The factors, such as thermal deformation and mechanical vibrating of the cavity, will result in cavity detuning which led to the decline in cavity voltage, and phase drift. Therefore, the frequency tuning system is the key part of the accelerator to ensure the cavity work normally.Auto-tuning system can tune the radio frequency cavity, remotely, fast and accurately.Single-chip micro-computer is an important branch of micro-computer, and also quite viable models. It is particularly applicable to control fields. In recent years, MCU applications are continually deepening, more and more widely used in smart instruments, industrial control, and many other areas of daily life. MCU prominent feature is the small size, low power consumption and high reliability. The purpose of this paper is to design an automatic frequency tuning system, which can well meet the requirements of the accelerator, and to describe the system in several aspects, such as hardware design, software design, and anti-interference design. The overall design with simple and economy as the starting point, try to choose low-cost, high-performance chips in order to save design costs. The MCU control unit, including data sample procedures, initial subroutine, phase shift subroutines, direction identify subroutines, tuning subroutine and display subroutine, has been designed. And the debugging of hardware and software of this system has been completed.
