Light emitting diode (LED) has the advantages of small size, high stability and low cost. With the progress of LED technology, more and more equipments use the LED as the light source to replace the traditional light sources. For example, gas discharge lamp used in time correlation single photon counting is gradually replaced by LED nanosecond light source. Therefore, use the avalanche transistor, which has excellent performance as the fast switch and current amplify, to generate the nanosecond pulse signal. The light emitting diode's are driven by the pulse signal.This paper includes the related spectroscopic techniques, how light-emitting diode works and related applications, the principles of avalanche transistor and the light emitting diode's driver circuit design, and a further discussion about the parameter selection of the related components.
