Riveted joint is widely applied in engineering structures, particularly in the thin-walled structures, such as aircraft structures. There exists stress concentration around rivet holes; where the micro-cracks may imitate after the structures are in service for a long time. These micro-cracks can form a small macro-crack and lead to a sudden failure of the structure after the macro-crack propagates to some sufficient length. Therefore, it is vital to study fracture behavior for the riveted joint with a crack. In this thesis, finite element method was employed to analyze some typical riveted joint with a crack embedded in one of the lap plate, including single lap riveted joint, butt riveted joint and double-staggered riveted joint. Adopt 20 nodes element, consider the touchable questions of the part of lap joint, butt joint, riveted joint though the numerical simulation software ABAQUS to mesh the forth models and calculate the nodal force and nodal displacement on crack's top, using virtual crack closure technique calculate the stress intensity factor, riveted structure under stress of tensile load, give a curve that the stress intensity factor of crack's top vary with the crack length and the aberration nephogram who include the crack riveted structure. Further liquidate the structure of the force and the deformation condition. It discussed the effect of rivet caps, rivet diameter and the material elastic modulus on the stress intensity factor. The two models of single rivet structure and crack A's cracking model of double-staggered rivet structure would bend under load action, due to this influence some stress intensity factor of short cracks distribution of thickness closely linear., vary with the crack length increased, the stress intensity factor linear distribution of thickness, but crack model B of double-staggered rivet structure will not bring deformation.Adopt this thesis we can offer a theory and numerical basis for rivet structure as well as offered a reference for damage tolerance of the engineering structure.
