A earthquake took place in the boundary betreen Qianjiang, Chongqing and Xianfeng,Hubei on June 10th 1856 has formed the magnificent Xiaonanhai earthquake landslide vestige,which include the barrier lake,large and small colapse rock,landslide deposit and barrier dam.The essence of digital landslide technique is to capture basic landside information through remote sensing (RS) and spatial positioning combined with other survey methods; and by using GIS technique to manage and store the digital information; and then based on the landslide-geo-principium to make spatial analysis and establish digital three-dimensional, geo-referenced and multi-elements thematic landslide model serving the landslide survey, monitoring, assessment and disaster prediction and so on.Using the"digital landslide"technology this paper has carryed the investigation, analysis and research to the Xiaonanhai earthquake landslide. The main content are as follows:1) In a lot of reading and learning on the basis of previous research on earthquakes and landslides , the type of seismic landslides, earthquake landslide development factors, the developmental mechanism of the earthquake landslide, earthquake dammed lake formed by landslides, etc, paper has a detailed analysis and summary.2) Learn and research the digital landslide technology, take Xiaonanhai as an example for a full study. For digital landslide technologies development and its inadequate I use the ArcGIS Geodatabase platform to store and manage xiaonanhai earthquake landslide space data.3) Using the multi-source and multi-temporal remote sensing data, and the 1:5 million, 1:1 million terrain data, on the base of landslides geological principles, I interpreted the geological environment, spatial distribution, deposits characteristics, topography, etc.. of the Xiaonanhai earthquake landslide by the remote sensing.4) By the analysis and summary of the interpretation results, this paper has the following conclusions: the material basis of the Xiaonanhai earthquake landslide - the slow tilting shale silty mudstone, mudstone marl, is a typical slippery ground,which rock is weak, and is extremely broken in cutting of two regional joint. Under the action of earthquake forces, the original slope threw, collapsed, slided towards about 135°direction controlled by the formation tendency, which pluged the valley, formed a barrier dam and landslide deposit. The paper also discussed the relationship between landslide characteristics and development enviroment,earthquake action.
