Land cover change is an important element of the world regional.It requires not only large-scale study of the macro,but also small and medium-scale regional study.In this paper,three phases of Landsat TM data of 1992 and 2000 and SPOT5 data of 2006 being used,the technology method of remote sensing (RS) and geography information system (GIS) being adapted,the Yongding district,a mountainous areas of Hunan province,as an example has been investigated by dynamic monitoring and analytical research of land cover change.This paper introduces the basis conception related to land cover change and the research trends of land cover in the world,also introduces the methods of the dynamic change of Land cover based on RS.This paper later introduces the image preprocessing,including the radiation correction,geometrc correction,image reduction,and image enhancement.By the operation of human-computer interaction,site survey,the study of multi-source text data,obtains the three land cover classification map.This paper analyses the fourth aspects of Yongding district,including the overall situation,the volum change and the transfer direction of Land cover,dynamic degrees.It was found that arale land,grassland has been declining;water bodies and forest is reduction to inceasing;grden and constructiong land has being increasing;other land is inceasing to reduction.Woodland and the other land have a relatively lager volume.The rate of change of construction land is also relatively large.Moreover,the construction land and forest land is a major source of increase in cultivated land.During the 14 years,construction land has a lager single maximum of dynamic degrees,to 5.9481%.The largest of the integrated land-cover changes in the dynamic space is in 2000 to 2006,to 1.5066%.The use of CA-Markov models to predict the trend of land cover changes of the study area in 2020,and promote the rational use of land to generate responses.Last this paper introduces the qualitative analysis of changes in land use in Yongding district based on natural and human factors and the society and economy are the major reasons for Yongding land use change in the short time which including population factors,urbanization and industrialization,economic development and the government policy etc.finally study on the policies about correctly handle the relationship of people and nature,the land finishing and optimization the land use structure to let Yongding's land use developed more reasonable,coordinated and sustained.
