The reef is a kind of the special carbonate mass from the organic build-up, the typical lithologic reservoirs and it has widely hydrocarbon potentially. Compared with clastic reservoir, the reef carbonate reservoir is more complex, such as it has the unique and complex reservoir space, high reservoir heterogeneity, and difficult to evaluation by logging and identify the fluid character and so on.In this paper, aiming at the Amu Darya Basin, Turkmenistan in large-scale gas field ready for reef research. Based on the widely research and analysis of the reef reservoir in domestic or foreign. Take the Reservoir development geology, carbonate sedimentology carbonate logging and reservoir characterization as a guide. Comprehensive apply the geology, logging, testing, analysis, production performance data and so on to study the geological characteristics of Reef Based on the former research work, By the palaeontological data to calibrate the layer through the electrical curves,lithology and the marker layer to do the stratigraphic division and correlation Established a suitable sedimentary facies model for the reef carbonate in this area, use the combination of drilling core facies and well logging facies to describe the characteristic of sedimentation and planar distribution. According to the geological characteristics of reef reservoirs, based on the study of Four-property Correlation of reservoirs, the author establishes logging interpretation model constrained by geological characteristics and comprehensively interprets and evaluates more than 59 wells in this region. Through the geological research and reservoir testing analysis on the pressure data, comprehensive evaluation of reservoir characteristics of the fracture The microstructure of reef reservoir has been meticulously dealt with through various data from laboratory testing,such as core casting thin sections, scanning electron microscope, mercury injection data and so on. Through the comprehensive study of reservoir characteristics, the heterogeneity and the interlayer have been quantitatively described by core analysis from different aspects. On the basis of the above study, through analyzing various methods for geological modeling, choosing the modeling methods which suit the geologic characteristic in the area, the thesis set up geological model which include structure model, attribute model. And by Reserves calculation to check the model. Thus, the quantative 3D geological model are established to objectively show the reef gas reservoir geological characteristicBy the reserarch of reef reservoir characteristics, lay a solid foundation for the nextreservoir simulation, and the comprehensive research methods and results has a certainreference for the large number of Similar reef gas reservoirs in the Amu Darya Basin in thefuture.
