With the continuous development of LED technology and its ever-expanding applications, more and more attention was paid to the properties of phosphor used for white LED,especially to the properties of red phosphor excited by blue and UV light, which can affect directly the color rendering of white LED.A novel red phosphor SrMoO4:Eu3+ was prepared by high- temperature - solid - state -reaction method in this work. The properties of this red phosphor were improved by using charge compensation, adjusting substance component, utilizing sensitized ions, and so on.Other experiment conditions such as the concentration of sensitized ions, reaction temperature and grinding also were studied. All of those factors have important effects on luminescence and a promising phosphor was obtained in the end.The experimental results show that the sample SrMoO4:Eu3+ has strong luminescent intensity and it is a potential red phosphor for white LED.The size distribution is uniformity relatively and the particle is about 2-4μm.The strongest excitation spectra are located at 394nm and 464nm which are nicely matched with near-UV and blue chips. The emission spectra are composed of a set of aiguilles and the highest peak is at 615nm which was corresponded with the transition of 5D0→7F2 in Eu3+.The intensity of samples was enhanced when using Na+ ions as compensation charges. When introducing Si4+ to adjust substance component and utilizing Sm3+ or Y3+ to sensitize Eu3+,the excitation spectra broadened and emission peak enhanced. It can be seen that the SrMoO4:Eu3+ is a promising red phosphor.
