Focusing on Chinese Yew(Taxus chinensis var. Mairei)in the Xianyu Mountain in the south of Anhui Province and Tongkeng Village in the north of Zhejiang Province, this thesis researches the relationship between animals and Chinese Yew's regeneration, and the regeneration pattern of the two populations were also surveyed. The results showed as the followings:1.The dynamic state of the seed spread. The period of the seed spread in Xianyu Mountain is 34d. The seeds disappear due to natural fruit dropping, bird eating and human fruit picking. The period of the seed spread in Tongkeng Village is 44d. The seeds disappear because of natural fruit dropping and animal eating. The eaten seeds have the largest proportion in the seed bank before and after the seeds spread. The amount of the seeds in the litter layer is more than that in the soil horizon. The number of the seeds varies greatly mainly in the upper slope and the middle slope.2.The animal activity and Chinese Yew's regeneration. The eating activity of six main kinds of birds plays an important role on the regeneration of seed. There are four kinds of rodents in the mesoslope and upslope in the population of Tongkeng Village. They are typical seed predators. The ratio of seed destruction by them is 74.44%. Two kinds of ants in the population of Tongkeng Village impact on the seed spread. It is surmised that the Paguma larvata influences the seeds spread of Chinese Yew.3.The natural regeneration population character in two places. In the population of Xianyu Mountain, the number of seedlings height less than 30 cm accounted for 80%, and the survival curve was Deevy-â…¢type. The population was presented a clumped spatial pattern. The high peak of death rate of the population was appeared inâ… 1 stadium. The dynamic analysis showed that the natural regeneration population was of slowly increasing. In the population of Tongkeng village, the number of seedlings height less than 30 cm accounted for 39.61%. The survivorship curve is between Deevy-II and Deevy-III. The population was presented a clumped spatial pattern. The population trend shows that the number of the adults is stable and the population grows steady.
