Geomagnetism Navigation is a new-style navigation technology that is not only applicable for independent navigation but also integrated navigation. It has good performance in hiding itself and can be used in broad fields. It has simple and reliable structure. More than that, it is precise but costs less. For these merits above, it meets the future demand of navigation system, and has notable application potential. The key technology of Geomagnetism Navigation includes three parts: the design of micro-magnetic field sensor, the describing of geomagnetic model and the establishing of geomagnetic map, the study of geomagnetic matching algorithm. This paper works actively on the key technology of Geomagnetism Navigation based on the mantic project.Firstly, the theory of Giant Magneto-Impedance (GMI) effect in the amorphous wire is studied in this paper. The mechanism and the drive frequency characteristic of the Giant Magneto-Impedance effect are obtained. On basis of that, the magnetic field sensor based on the GMI effect is designed and implemented, and then tested in the geomagnetic field and the calibration equipment. It is confirmed that the sensor achieves the desired objectives by analyzing and summarizing the test results. Secondly, the geomagnetic field and the geomagnetic model are studied. In this part, the geomagnetic model of International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF) provided by International Association for Geomagnetism and Aeronomy (IAGA) is studied, and then produce a calculation procedure based on IGRF to generate geomagnetic map that is used by geomagnetic matching. Finally, the geomagnetic matching algorithm is studied and simulated for Geomagnetism Aided INS integrated navigation system. Geomagnetic matching is realized by using the ICP algorithm which is based on geomagnetic map. Then the geomagnetic matching algorithm is simulated on the geomagnetic map. Approving results appear.
