Topographic survey is important content of appraising riverbed evolution in model experiment. At present, there are so many kinds of topographic apparatus which use in underwater topographic survey. But majority of them are half-contact type with limited measuring accuracy and the resolution, and they will possibly affects the terrain original condition by disturbing river flow. The most purpose of this paper is to develop a new topographic survey system, to improve the measuring accuracy and resolution, to measure topography quickly and effectively, and to reduce disturbance.With its characteristics of good collimation, high accuracy and no disturbance, laser is widely applied in space length survey. This article confirmed the laser applying in the underwater topography survey, and used it in measuring underwater topography. NC programming system by ranging laser for underwater topographic survey is composed of automatic position plane platform and acquisition program based on Lab View.The system uses the high accuracy automatic position mechanism and the electrical machinery installment, which provides the accurate localization and the trigger pip for the laser underwater survey; The data acquisition card selects NI Corporation's USB-6210, which provides guarantee for topographic survey with its quickly sampling frequency and highly gathering precision; Development's acquisition program based on Lab View realize trigger acquisition data; subaqueous survey precision and resolution of PT80 laser ranging sensor, which made in CASATI company, satisfy the system design. After installation and debugging, the system is confirmed feasible and stable in measuring subaqueous topography.Finally, the system applies in topographic survey of steady flow single pile scouring experiment. The terrain measurement result is ideal and achieves the development goal.
