The special geological problems are present in the oil field exploration and development, because of the characteristics of small vertical thickness and fast change in horizontal for the oil and gas reservoirs sand body in shallow in Songliao Basain. And these problems can be resolved under the premise of high resolution seismic data. But the present resolution of seismic data is far from enough to meet the need of describing the lithologic trap accurately, fine contrast for the thin oil-bearing formation, developing the horizontal wells design, improving the rate of reservoir drilling and so on. The current approaches including the post-stack and seismic interpretation techniques improve the seismic resolution in some sort, but bring some uncertainty. The fundamental way to resolve the problem is to begin with seismic data processing process. It means to excavate further the potential of existing seismic data, and try our best to improve the seismic resolution, that is frequency-broadening technique. In this paper, the study of frequency-broadening technique is developed in 3D seismic work area Ta112 in north of the Songliao Basin by applying Omega and CGG with the way of integrated seismic data processing and interpretation. A suit of seismic data frequency–broadening processing and identification technique which is suit to the thin interbed layer lithologic reservoir in Songliao basin is formed and the HFE algorithm is optimized by developing the track, research and application for the technical method. The result shows that high resolution frequency-broadening processing is a system engineering, each link of which must be optimized and fine. Two important indexes are accurate imaging and keeping the relative composite wave relationship, and the difficult point is to protect the weak high-frequency signal, remove the high-frequency noise. Post-stack frequency-broadening processing can give a wide frequency band, and the spectrum shape in low frequencies is kept well, so the vertical resolution is improved evidently. The post-stack frequency-broadening result can be used in the sand unit tracking explained, but it is difficult to identify the single sand for exiting seismic technologies. The frequency-broadening processing research is faced with the enormous technical problems, and there is a long way to go. At the same time, the interpretation technology of frequency-broadening seismic data is also faced with challenges. More importantly, the ideas and the concepts must be change.
