The damage of the pulsed laser mainly come from the laser-induced plasma production. K9 glass is one kind of optical materials. It is also an important kind of optical elements for high-power lasers. Its performances have effects on anti-damage of laser. Therefore, the research on laser induced K9 glass plasma is essential.In this paper, the basic theory of laser-induced plasma was summarized and the experiment was carried out. K9 glass was irradiated by doubled-frequency Nd:YAG laser. The pulse width of laser was 10ns. The K9 glass plasma spectroscopies were obtained by the experiment. The surface damages of K9 glass were also observed. Due to the plasma spectroscopies and the surface damages, their characteristics of laser damage were analysized. The electronic temperature of K9 glass plasma was calculated under the experimental conditions. Finally, the plasma mechanisms of production were gained.
