| At present, with the development of technology in data fusion and information fusion, especially with the unceasingly maturing of 3S technology, the ecology science had experienced extremely important transformation in the second half of 20th century. Relevant theories and methods became more and more mature, which provided new tools and methods for the development and application of ecology in large scale, gradually, making the key domains of ecology transform from qualitative to quantitative research.The Land Use Database (LUD) is the important achievement of land surveys, and the 3S technology has been applied synthetically in the process of establishing LUD. The RS and image interpret technology are applied to gain land use data and estimate the Land Use Information, and GPS technology is adopted to locate the land-use information of spatial object quickly and accurately. The establishment, updating and management of LUD are based on GIS platform. The LUD, which based on GIS technology, is not only the reflection of data information of land use and land coverage (LUCC), but also integrated functions of inquiry statistics, spatial analysis, data gathering and map production etc. Hence, LUD is an application tool as well as synthetical data resource of land use information. As for ecology research, it is a essential capability to master the quantity and regional information of changes of land use rapidly, combining with land quality assessment achievement to obtain the change of type, quantity and quality of land use. Fortunately, the construction of LUD can achieve this ability. The integration of LUD and social-economic statistic data will promote the ecology theory and research methods.This paper, based on the characteristic and function of LUD and Combined with GIS platform, discusses the application of LUD in the ecology in the following four views: Landscape Ecology, Environment Ecology, Ecological Restoration and Remedy, Ecological Construction and Planning. The paper can be divided into five major chapters, the primary coverage are as follows:The first part is about introduction. It briefly introduce the background of the establishment and application of LUD and ecology research in domestic and abroad, and the research content, method and technical route have been confirmed in this part. The second part is about the introduction of LUD. Based on the construction background, it makes an introduction about the technical support, the database structure, the data composition, the way of data organization, the basic function, and the application mode of LUD.The third part is the application of LUD in Ecology. Based on the characteristic and function of LUD and Combined with GIS platform, it discusses the application of LUD in the ecology in the following four views: Landscape Ecology (Landscape Data Management, Landscape Ecological Classification and Mapping, Landscape Pattern Analysis, Landscape Ecological Simulation, Landscape Ecological Assessment), Environment Ecology ( Ecological Security Assessment, Ecology Risk Assessment) , Ecological Restoration and Remedy, Ecological Construction and Planning.The fourth part carries on an evaluation on the advantages and disadvantages of LUD applicated in ecology, and analysis the advantages and shortcomings of LUD.The fifth part is conclusion and research prospects. This part summarizes the main viewpoints of the paper. Based on the results and the deficiencies, the author points out the further direction of the research. |
