In this paper, various indexes of physical and mechanic characteristics of expansive soils and lime-treated soils in Hefei Xinqiao International Airport are obtained via scores of soil tests. And through the research on different lime mixing ratios of the lime-treated soils, the relationship between the physical and mechanic characteristics and the lime mixing ratio are also obtained. Based on the analysis through polar microscope, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and chemistry total analysis, the swell-contraction mechanism and improving mechanism are explained from the point of microstructure, and the varying regularity of the microstructure to different lime mixing ratios of the lime-treated soils are obtained. The relationship among the microstructure, the mineral component and chemistry component, and the engineering properties of expansive soils and lime-treated soils are also analyzed in this paper. The primary results of this study include 5 points as follows:â… Physical and mechanic properties and engineering characteristics of the expansive soils and lime-treated soils in Hefei Xinqiao International Airport;â…¡The varying regularity of the physical and mechanic properties and engineering characteristics, and the varying regularity of the microstructure of the different mixing ratio lime-treated soils;â…¢The improve mechanism of the lime improved the expansive soil;â…£The relationship between microstructure and engineering property of the expansive soil and lime-treated soil;â…¤The relationship between mineral component, as well as chemistry component, and engineering property of the expansive soil;...
