Nonlinear and non-stationary data analysis is a significant problem both in pure research and practical applications.Hilbert-Huang Transform(HHT) is an adaptive data analysis method for nonlinear and non-stationary data,which consists of two parts:Empirical Mode Decomposition(EMD) and Hilbert Spectral Analysis(HSA).This method,different from the wavelet,do not employ the basis given in advance,so it is adaptive.The HHT's power and effectiveness in data analysis have been demonstrated by its successful application to many important problems and fields,such as financial analysis,ocean observation,and biological medicine.However,this method is actually an algorithm that is lack of mathematical foundation.This paper does 2 researches mainly on HHT data processing:(1) which kind of data series is adapted to be processed in HHT?(2) Which kind of interpolating tools should be selected as the envelope curve of the original data? And conclude two results:(1) according to the slope of the sum of up envelope and down envelope to decide if or not use HHT.(2) Use the spline of degree 2 to do the envelope.
