Maneuverability is an important performance insuring the security of a ship. It is a focus question how to advance precision and reduce difficulty of Maneuverability prediction. This thesis uses sensitivity index method to discuss the sensitivity of hydrodynamics coefficients basing on maneuverability simulation.This thesis builds 4 DOF MMG maneuverability model including heeling in calm sea, makes simulation program by MATLAB, and does a real ship's numerical simulation of steady turning and Z-rudder-operating. On the basis, the thesis discusses the changing rule and characteristic of hydrodynamics coefficient sensitivity to tactical diameter of steady turning and the first exceed angle of Z-rudder-operating. The thesis sums up the maximal sensitivity indexes, enactments a sensitivity target, cuts down the maximal indexes less than the sensitivity target, and predigests maneuverability model.The research in this thesis shows that the influence range and degree of hydrodynamics coefficients on maneuverability can be made sure by sensitivity of hydrodynamics coefficients method; 4 DOF maneuverability model can be predigested and simulation results are very similar before and after predigesting model ; predigesting model makes small influence on simulation precision and reduce workload of building model and simulation, and provides reference for predigesting 6 DOF maneuverability model.
