The transportation system is an important part of the lifeline system. Once it damaged in the earthquake, not only could create the huge direct economic loss, but also create difficulties to the rescue work, causing the disaster relief troops and commodities enter the disaster area unrapidly. Therefore, the research on evaluation method of the transportation elements damage in earthquakes has practical significance to the structure seismic performance evaluation and the earthquake emergency.In this paper, state-of-the-art of the earthquake damage evaluation methods of bridge, road and tunnel transportation elements is introduced. And the evaluation models of bridge, road and tunnel are separately constructed through statistical analysis and comparation study based on the seismic damage materials in the past earthquake by selecting some parameters which can reflect their earthquake resistance abilities. Main research works include:1. The earthquake damage features of bridge, road and tunnel are discussed and state-of-the-art of the transportation elements'earthquake damage evaluation methods is reviewed. The multivariable linear regression method and the examination to its result also introduced.2. The influence of foundation failure to the bridge damage is statistically analyzed. The existing bridge earthquake damage evaluation methods are briefly introduced. The arch bridge earthquake damage evaluation model is built using the arch bridge earthquake damage materials in Tangshan,Haicheng and Tonghai earthquake. The model can be used to evaluate the bridge damage under given earthquake intensity.3. The road earthquake damage features are analyzed, and the main influence factors are discussed and the existing road earthquake damage evaluation method is briefly introduced. A railway earthquake damage evaluation model is built, using the railway earthquake damage materials in Tangshan and Haicheng earthquake. The model can be used to evaluate the railway damage under given earthquake intensity.4. The tunnel earthquake damage mechanism is introduced and the damage grade of tunnel damage and their corresponding damages indexs are given. Based on the tunnel damage materials in Kobe earthquake and Chi-Chi earthquake, the tunnel earthquake damage evaluation model is built and can be used to evaluate the tunnel damage under given earthquake intensity.
