Firstly, we briefly introduced the basic concepts of quantum dot. And then the main mathematical methods, on quantum transport theories, are described. By means of transfer-matrix method, we systematically studied the resonant tunneling phenomena of an electron in one-dimensional quantum-dot array. Our numerical results showed that for two quantum dots, there are expected resonant tunneling effects. With increasing the number of the quantum dots, the resonant peak is split into more peaks, and the number of the peaks equals to the number of the quantum dots. This result is similar phenomena with the one observed in the super lattices. Furthermore, when the number of the quantum dots is increased to infinite, the resonant peak is broadened to a quasi-continuous band structure.
