The research on anti-explosion and anti-shock performance of ship plate structure will be paid more and more attention when the recognition of ship survivability has been improved. With the development of aggressive weapon, doing thorough research on this problem is really important. The research on failure mechanism of ship plate structure subjected to contact explosion is carried on in this article.Systematically summed up the crevasse formula of plate structure subjected to small charge of contact explosive load. The failure mechanism of shipboard subjected to underwater contact explosion is studied, firstly the failure mode of each defense structure is analyzed, and also energy absorption ratio of each defense structure is calculated with energy principle. Blast resistance mechanism of defense structure near shipboard is revealed.Revise the crevasse formula of ship structure subjected to underwater contact explosion on the basis of model experiment, the crevasse revises formula is confirmed through the relevant combat example statistical data. The analysis is done by the finite element software LS-DYNA and it is compared with the result of theoretical computation. It is indicated the crevasse formula can estimate the crevasse size of ships suffered from torpedo hit.
