Nowadays, the Global Position System (GPS), which is widely used in the astronautics, aviation and marine field, is the outrunner of the satellite navigation systems. It has superior navigation performance and can offer all-weather, continuous, three-dimensional position and navigation. With the development of the transportation intelligence, most of the navigation and position systems of the vehicles are Global Position System (GPS). But when the vehicles run in a mountain area or a built-up neighbourhood, where the GPS signal was interfered or missing, the navigation system will not work accurately or even work improperly.Based on the above reasons, a combined navigation solution of Baro-Altimeter offering height information and GPS system was suggested. In this article, the working mechanism of the Baro-Altimeter was presented to deduce a mathematic model of the Baro-Altimete. Unified GPS the localization principle, observational equation of GPS and the Baro-Altimete combined navigation localization system as well as resolving method of this system observational equation was given. HPB made by Honeywell was used as the Baro-Altimeter in a series of actual experiments. The GPS receiver in the experiments is JNS-100GG made by JAVAD. By obtaining the data of GPS ephemeris and according to integrate the Baro-Altimeter and GPS navigation, it was made possible to offer continuous GPS navigation when only three available satellites. At the last part of the article, a lot of experiments and emulators were made to exam the combined navigation system. As the results showed, when the height information offered by the Baro-Altimeter was relatively accurate, it is possible to offer continuous three-dimensional position navigation by using the height information offset the missing GPS signal.
