Because of the development of dynamics engineering, chemistry engineering, petroleum chemical engineering, atomatic energy engineering, aerospace engineering & environment engineering, the society put a high premium on two-phase flow study and made it as a complete applied basic researchment.Because of these, based on the multi-phase facility of Tianjin University this thesis indepth studied flow pattern creation.1. Bubble, wavy, slug, churn, annular flow patterns were created with this facility at different bores (DN50, DN80, DN125) and states (horizontal, upward vertical, inclined upward).The flow patterns were summarized and classified then flow patterns maps were drawn under the experimental results.When the flow or velocity was setted, which flow pattern would be created can be gotten refering to the flow pattern, and the auto control system can quickly stabilize to setpoints. So a good facility was supplyed for flow pattern study, multi-phase flow detection and measurement, multi-phase flow mechanism study.2. On the premise of high reliability, high precision and use conventivently, a control system owning manual and auto mode was designed. The manual system had many ways to control flow pattern while improved PID control algorithm embeded in auto control system had the characters of fast executer and use conventivently.3. Aiming at developing high accuracy measuerment and control system in small flow and solving the difficulty at small flow measurement for practical application.The way used automatic pressure balancing valves to stablize the modulating valve's pressure then the valve can open lower, finally implemented the wide-range flow measurement and control from 0.02 m3/h to 2.70 m3/h on small water flow, the flow ranges of this facility were more wide, so the mist and bubble flow pattern can be created.
