Land surface temperature (LST) is a very important parameter in the energy balance of the earth. The energy change of soil and underground which is obvious or potential could be reflected through LST. Using LST, the analysis and research could be done in many fields, such as meteorology, agriculture, geographic, geology and so on. Especially In recent years, people pay more attention to the study on the tectonic activity using the thermal infrared remote sensing method. But the traditional Measurement methods are difficult to receive the temperature data in a large area, which hinders the development of LST. MODIS date could receive the temperature which is on a large area and dynamic change. The characters of MODIS data make it provide feasible data, which support the related LST research.Because of the complication of the thermal radiation on the land surface and the influence of the atmosphere, satellite brightness temperature is not equal to the LST, which brings many uncertain elements to the study. So It is very important to the research of tectonic activity that building temperature model of local area and retrieving LST. The study area is northwest Beijing in my research. The main job of my study is to build the remote sensing model of land surface temperature in my research area, basing on the MODIS data for two years.Build the remote sensing model of land surface temperature in northwest Beijing could execute the steps as follow: the field study of northwest Beijing, the Literature collection, the Images pretreatment, the design and fulfillment of cloud detection, building and evaluation the LST model. In my research, cloud detection and temperature retrieval is the key. Based on the traditional cloud detection methods, I develop a new algorithm for detecting cloud. At the same time, in my research, the measured land surface temperature is used to help retrieve the LST. Through the above study, the LST model of northwest Beijing is built, and receiving good land surface temperature results. This study makes a confirm base for the research in future.
