Recently, the study on structural reliability has made great progress. The term has established a series of new concept, theory, method and standards for measurement. Multiple uncertain factors are considered to evaluate its safety.At present, the theory of structural reliability and applicable technique are in the process of transferring from lower to higher systematic level. However, the analysis on reliability of structural system is more difficult and complicated than reliability of structural elements. The reason is the structural system has many models, especially the large-scale and complicated systems. The current calculation methods have their own scopes. This paper has proposed an effective method to calculate space frame structure with the method of stochastic FEM.First, this paper mentioned the traditional methods for calculating reliability, and analyzed multiple load of structure, especially wind and active load. And the function of probability distribution is given. Then simulate the chosen load and material data with Monte Carlo method and generate their data by random. With the FEM, choose n groups of random numbers; the calculating result is response of structure. W-test and maximum entropy are adopted to fit the probability density. Finally, a function is established on the principle of invalidation. The reliability of the system can be reached with the method of probability theory.Through examples analysis, this method is easy and simple and can be used to calculate reliability of space frame structure. It is effective to analyze reliability for the structures that will be built and that are in service now. Besides, it can provide information of reference for project structures.
