Shaxi region of Batang County lies in the north of "Southwest Sanjiang metallogenic belt", as an important part of Yidun island arc, is mineral-rich region of the staggered positions in western Ganzi. Many mineral resources have been found there, thus it has very good prospects for exploration. Regional geological exploration work is less, remote sensing technology and geographic information system technology and is conducive to expanding prospecting.ETM data is selected as remote sensing data sources, with the spectral band characteristics and remote research requirements, by doing relevant analysis of band, to get ETM741 RGB combination, then merge it and ETM8, and uses this merging image to do visual interpretation of geological structure. After understanding the geological environment, by wiping off snow and ice, vegetation, and water shadow, mask processing, Principal Component Analysis, to extract alkyl information and iron staining information, finally do 1,2,3 alteration zoning. Considering remote sensing geological deposits sign, refining linear structure and the characteristics of circular structure, to get 527 liner structures and 3 ring structures, and then use the frequency, intensity, direction and the fractal dimension to study characteristics of linear structure. Based on previous studies, formation lithology information, linear structure density information, linear structure frequency information, hydroxy information and iron staining information are changed to zoning map layers, by using multi-dimensional analysis of spatial analysis module of MAPGIS; comprehensively research the impacts of each map layer to designate four degrades mineralization information regions. The first-class mineralization information region lies in the middle and north of Shaxi, which is mainly controlled by Zhalong-Ranbu Fault, Biezonglongma-Quwengcuo Fault and Cangguodi-Yangmolong Fault. The northern part of this region is closed to Gacun Silver-metal ore, so there is best mineralization prospect. The second-class mineralization information region lies in the south of Deda; this region is mainly controlled by Zhalong-Ranbu Fault. Copper, tin, lead and zinc which distribute around tin mine of Yidun southeast, so this region ranks No.2. The third-class mineralization information region lies in the west of Shaxi, which is mainly controlled by Zamagang-Mayaba Fault and Moxi-Batang Fault. This region has relative exploration potential. The fourth-class mineralization information region lies in the east of Shaxi, which is mainly controlled by Zamagang-Maoyaba Fault, Zhangde Anticline and Dong'e-Chiqiong Syncline. There is silver, gold, copper, lead, zinc, tin in Lianlong west branch ditch, Lianlong south branch ditch, Cuopu, and Jiaogenma, especially those regions which are near to the first-class mineralization information region. This paper shows that alteration-geological structure can indicate mineralization information; it also shows that alteration, structure and lithology information, mineral prospecting and geochemical have the similar instructions role. Chemical weathering has an adverse impact on alteration information extraction, Therefore, doing comparative research with many kinds of remote sensing data and improving technology and algorithm of alteration information extraction is the focus of further study.
