The Analysis Of Icon Cognitive Factors And Its Application Research

The icon plays an important role in composing human-computer interactive interfaces. It is an important mode of interaction that between users and machines that including computers. To a farther degree, the users' cognition of icon is also a part of the cognition of system. The paper does a deep research on the cognition of icon from the point or cognition. We also present the conception of icon cognitive factors and summarize the using rules and traits of icon cognitive factors in human-computer interactive interfaces. We design many users' experiments, and from them we get the influence of the changing cognitive factors to the users' cognition. The following are what we have done in this dissertation:(1) Introduce the conception and seedtime of human-computer interactive interfaces. For the common fuzzy understanding of icon, we present the strict definition of icon conception and explain the intention and signification of icon research.(2) Summarize the function and classification of icon. Analyze the process of the user-icon interaction and icon cognition, and then we induce the decisive function of users' cognition on icon in icon interaction. Furthermore we summarize the factors of icon cognition.(3) For the visual impressibility format, we present the basal factors that influence the users' cognizing on icon. We also examine the representation format of these factors in human-computer interactive interfaces of different sorts and summarize the using rules and characteristics.(4) Design and implement many using experiments for the icon cognitive factors like number, dimension, and shape comparability and so on. From the research we educe the material rules that how these factors influence the users' icon cognition, prove the influence of cognitive factors to users' icon cognition that we present is very important.(5) Design the icons in a human-computer interactive interface of a virtual geography environment. In the designing, we present a whole flow of icon design and evaluation and the method of how to use cognitive factors in icon designing and evaluation. In the designing and implement, through the analyzing of users we ascertain the representative form, and we design the icon's interactive information configuration using assignment logic chart and mathematic analyzing method. Take the evaluation of icon to be the important gist in further modification.
