On Tourist Video Map Design

Tourist map is a relatively new concept in China, which emerged with the deepening of reform and opening. With rapid development of science and technology, requirements for maps have changed, and new creations appeal to this demand. As a native Yananese, the author has witnessed the great changes in Yanan in the past 20 years. Revolutionary tradition education has always been the feature tourism of Yanan, and Yanan Spirit has always been there. However, to manage tourism as an industry, new tourist programs need to be developed, for which the high-speed economic development of Yanan has laid a good foundation. Red tourism is a recent idea, but has received world attention. As an amateur tourist, the writer loves tourist maps, and has realized that Yanan tourist map is outdated for Red Tourism. On the basis of above-mentioned considerations, the writer puts forward the idea of Red Tourism Video Map. This paper introduces the background and importance of tourist map development, reviews maps of Yanan in history, and summarizes the function and characteristics of Red Tourism Video Map. This map should include diagrams, images, verbal introduction, numbers, sound, video, cartoon and virtual reality, to make it anew, vivid and lively tourist guide that not only reveals tourist resources of Yanan in general, but serves tourists of different levels, and to ensure the Yanan Red Tourist Route a golden route that combines revolutionary tradition education, cultural education entertainment and sight-seeing. Meanwhile, it is hoped that this could be a humble contribution to the Chinese map industry.
