The fiber drop analysis technique is mainly used to study on the relationship between the dripping process and the characters of the liquids to be tested. The shape of liquid drops changes in the dripping process, while the optical path, reflection times, reflectivity, absorptivity and other parameters of the light in liquid drops also change continually. To guarantee the consistency and reliability of this technique, it is very important to understand the propagation of light in liquid drops in detail.A series of experiments have been done to test the refractive optical field from liquid drops. Water and dextrose liquor are chosen as the experimental materials. Through analyzing the distribution of the refractive light ray, we reasoned out the transmission traces of the light inside the liquid drops. The conclusion showed the propagation of light in liquid drops. The relationships are analyzed among the fiber fingerprint drop traces, the shapes of liquid drops and light fields. The forming process of the fiber fingerprint drop traces is explained. That established the foundation of consummating the design of the fiber liquid drop sensors and application of these sensors in the analysis of liquids.
