As the interaction between the neutrinos and other object is very weak, it is difficult to detect the solar neutrinos. If we can find a new method of detecting the neutrinos, it is a breakthrough in physics. Weber suggested a theory of coherent scattering that the total neutrino scattering rate in perfect crystal was proportional to the number of scatterer squared, this should result in neutrino scattering cross sections enhanced by factors typically exceeding 1020, which meant this scattering effect would be detected by the higher precision torsion balance. This theory was criticized by a number of researchers, but Weber reported that his solar neutrino experimental result was in apparent agreement with his theory. In this paper, two higher precision torsion balances were used to detect the possible scattering effect between the sapphire crystal and solar neutrinos due to Weber's theory and experimental result. Before the experiment, the total system was insulated to reduce the temperature fluctuation, a modulated temperature experiment was operated to investigate the temperature effect. After long time observation, finally our experiment gave a null result for the diurnal force with a noise level of 3.8×10-14 N, which was 526 times smaller than the predicted value 2.0×10-11 N of Weber's theory. According to the analysis of systematic errors, it suggested the diurnal effects due to the disturbances had not been removed completely in Weber's experiment. This experiment also revealed a test of the weak equivalence principle with 10η( Al2 O 3 , Pb) = (0.8±3.1)×1 0? for the test masses falling toward the Sun.This work is supported by the National Basic Research Program Development of China (2003CB716300) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (10121503).
