Based on the technologies of remote sensing, and the method of applied statistics, the characteristics of the Huangqian Reservoir Basin, such as the ecological geology environment, the rainfall and water supply, the quality of water, and so on, are analyzed. Besides, the studies on the Optimization Adjusting Calculation for Water Supply and the Safety of Water Supply have been carried through. The main work and conclusions are as follows:The forest coverage changes of Huangqian Reservoir Basin during the past 30 years are calculated using the remote sensing technology. It is concluded that the coverage probability of the forest has been increasing. We call know that forest can store water sources, prolong the influent time, and increase the volume of influent water. Therefore, the increase of forest coverage probability can decrease the volume of influent water in flood seasons, prolong the influent time, and decrease the pressure that the flood peaks bring to the reservoir. Besides, it can also increase the volume of influent water in low water seasons and the adjustability of the reservoir.The high frequency of geology disaster such as landslip, slides, debris flows is caused by the facts that Huangqian reservoir basin is located in the middle-low incised mountain area at erode construction, where the mountains are composed of magma rocks and metamorphic rocks, the mountains are very high, the channels are very low and the hypsography is steep. These middle or small scale disasters, which are mainly caused by the rainstorms, will influence the reservoir remarkably.The water quality is analyzed using gray condition decision-making method. And this method is compared with the single gene evaluation method. The result shows that the water in the Huangqian reservoir belongs to V type, which is rich of ammonia-nitrogen (A-N). That is the main factor that affects the safety of supplying water of Huangqian reservoir. It is concluded that the rainfall in Huangqian area has the characteristics such as asymmetrical distribution in each year, prominent change, and 2-4 years abundant or dried up. Using statistic analysis method we also find that the rainfall of this area distributed asymmetrical obviously in the recent 20 years. Rainfall in the Huangqian reservoir area is the main factor that affects the supply of water. The relationship between them can be represented by a linear relation(y=-6694+16.7x).The runoff condition of Huangqian reservoir during 1963-2005 is computed using the Visual FoxPro procedures. And it can be concluded that the water supply ensure rate will reach more than 97% and 10 thousands acre farmland can be irrigated if the Huangqian reservoir supply water to Tai' an city 90, 000 m3 /d.The climate, the forests, the rock-soil and the pollution of rock-soil are the main factors that affecting the safety of supplying water of Huangqian reservoir basin. These factors restrict one another. Therefore, the protection of the ecological geology environment plays an important role in the assurance of water supply safety in Huangqian reservoir basin.
