Numerical computation of the flow around two square cylinders in tandemarrangement which draw from Interference effects of wind loads of a cluster of tallbuildings. It is difficult to solve the Navier-Stokes equations which express thisphenomenon. It has been a developing tendency to numerically simulate this complexmodel with the help of computer, because of the computer technology is experiencingfast development. In this thesis, we study two-dimensional incompressible flow fieldaround two square cylinders in tandem arranged using a CFD software (FLUENT)and analyzed the result in detail. This dissertation is divided into six parts. Chapter one is the exordium. Chaptertwo is computational fluid mechanics model and method on turbulence. The controlequation of flow around a bluffbody is Navier-Stokes equation, here some turbulencemodels and computational methods to solve N-V equation were introduced. Chapterthree, in this paper, air flow moving towards a cubic will be studied usingcomputational fluid dynamics (CFD). Full-scale test results, wind-tunnel results andcomputational results are available in a lot of literatures. Standard k-εmodel andRNG k-εmodel are used. When the mean inflow velocity profile is represented bythe logarithm law, the influence of different inflow turbulence kinetic energy oncomputational results is studied. The computational results are compared withFull-scale test results and significant results are obtained. Chapter four is that wecompute the flow around two square cylinders in tandem arrangement with Reynoldsnumbers =5329. The distance between two square cylinders affect the flow fieldsmuch. The results identify that when the value of L/D is less than the critical spacing(approximate 5.0), the vortex shedding of the front cylinder is suppressed; when thevalue of L/D is larger than the critical spacing, the two cylinders generate vortexshedding separately and interact with each other. At the critical point, the draftcoefficient of two cylinders changed abnormally. Chapter five is flow-inducedvibration of a square cylinder with interference.Chapter six is conclusion andprospect.
