The potential of dipolar fluids consists of the short-range potential andthe long-range potential. The effects of the width and depth of square-wellpotential that is used as the short-range potential are studied in this thesis. Thefindings gotten in recent years are reviewed in the first chapter. And the basictheories are narrated in the second chapter. At the same time thegrant-canonical free energy is deduced by density functional theory. At themodified mean-field approximation the density functional theory is used todeduce the idiographic expression of the grant-canonical free energy ofsquare-well potential and the correlative expressions are reduced in the thirdchapter. The computed results were discussed in the fourth chapter to makecertain the effect of l G to the phase diagram critical temperature andtricritical point. There are, in addition, a few of procedures needed to describethe phase diagram and make certain critical temperatures and tricritical points.
