The genesis of earth covering on the Karst region in southwestern China and the correct knowledge of how carbonate develops into earth are the premises of related scientific research. So far, there have been a good many studies about it and plenty of evidences for the view that earth mantling the Karst region in Guizhou is the weathering crust of underlied carbonate, but most of the studies are not based on the case of fengcong but downy area and knap. The corporeal flow directs dissimilarly in different relief at different altitudes. Soil on the peak is very easy to move under the influence of gravity, while the soil on the downy area stays where it is for a very long time. The changes of the Karst terrain are recurrent with geotectonic action, the present Karst terrain results from diastrophism more than once, and it is a scene in the history of landform development in Karst area. Researcher's attention had been fixed on knap relief during the last period, and it is supposed to go on to study the catholicity of the former viewpoint. Samples from the different Karst landform to research how the carbonate gives birth to earth are used in the experiment, which is reasonable and convictive.This study is a case of Guizhou area, samples from the top of fengcong, links with preceding fruit, and compares the different Karst relief to get the characters in different regions, which is helpful greatly to the next research plan. Though research and analysis, it can be concluded that:Firstly, regolith in Karst terrain in Guizhou indeed originates from insoluble residues of bedrock carbonate rock, which is unanimous with former viewpoint, and which is applicable in Karst feature in southwestern China.Secondly, the feature of profiles at downy area, slope and peak embodies how carbonate develops into earth, and the process of evolvement include three stages: the erosion of carbonate rocks and accumulation of insoluble residues; the process that the residues develops into limestone soil; the evolvement of zonal soil(yellow earth).
