The paper discusses the the geological background of loess (including the location, the terrain landform, the hydrological and hydrogeological condition, the climatic condition, and so on.) in North Shannxi province. At the same time, the macroscopical characteristic and the characteristic project of loess in North Shaanxi Province analyzed; Based on the direct-shear tests and the triaxial tests, the paper studies the regulation relationship between shear strength and water content of Q3 loess in North Shaanxi Province. Simultaneity, the relationship of them is deduced; A one-dimension calculation model about the moisture variety in unsaturated loess is built. The model can simulate the moisture variety in loess in different rainfall condition; Based on the rain characteristic of loess in North Shaanxi Province, the paper analyse the transient water content changes of Q3 loess slope in the different rainfall. A model condidering the effects of the rain infiltration on transient safety in the unsaturated loess slope is proposed . Then a computer program is compiled; The slope stability influenced by the rain filtration is discussed in detail.
