AmorpHa fruticosa Linn and Lespedeza bicolor Turcz are legume shrub plants, which have some biological properties, such as strong adaptability, barrenness tolerance, luxuriant root hairs and nodules. And they are good herbage and green manure, which also can be used as economic materials for spinning and weaving, making paper and producing synthetic fabric. Thus they are full of economic values and ecologic benefits. The present study is mainly exploring saline-alkali tolerance of AmorpHa fruticosa Linn and Lespedeza bicolor Turcz in the stages of seed germination and plant growth, and providing some theoretical basis for their transplantation and adaptability in saline-alkali soil.The study of saline-alkali tolerance to seed germination was tested by different concentration of NaCl, NaHCO3, Na2CO3, that is 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.4g / 100mg, and by a mixture of NaCl, NaHCO3 and Na2CO3 with portions of 1:1:1, 1:1:2, and 1:1:4, in order to test and analyze of germination percentage, germination potential, the growth of plumule or radicle of AmorpHa fruticosa Linn and Lespedeza bicolor Turcz in saline stress. And the study of saline-alkali tolerance in the growth period of plants was tested by planting in saline-alkali soil with different degrees. It is to test and analyze saline-alkali tolerance by observing the growth of plants. This study was conducted in comparison with Lespedeza daurica which is also planted in saline-alkali soil.The results are shown that with the increasing concentration of solutions and pH value under salt stress, there is a decreasing tendency of germination percentage, germination potential, and the growth of plumule or radicle of AmorpHa fruticosa Linn and Lespedeza bicolor Turcz. And Na2CO3 is the most influential factor to germination percentage of seeds while NacCl has the least impact. In comparison, there are no significant differences of germination percentage in lower concentration of solutions for saline stress, showing that the germination of seeds has some saline-alkali tolerance and that it has some stimulation to the germination of seeds of Lespedeza bicolor Turcz under lower concentration of solutions of NaCl and NaHCO3. Meanwhile, the results show that the growth of radicle would be restrained stronger than the growth of plumule under saline stress. Under different concentrations of solution for saline-alkali salt stress, the status of saline-alkali tolerance is AmorpHa fruticosa Linn >Lespedeza bicolor Turcz > Lespedeza daurica.AmorpHa fruticosa Linn and Lespedeza bicolor Turcz can grow up naturally in the experimental plot of saline-alkali soil with lower degree, which trunk can be 66-102cm high, and the length of root can be 56-95cm. By observing the data of the height of plant trunk, stem thickness, level one of branches, the length of rootstock, the thickness of rootstock, level one of branches of root, there is no significant difference between the growth of stem and root of AmorpHa fruticosa Linn and Lespedeza bicolor Turcz and of Lespedeza daurica. However, the total aboveground biomass of AmorpHa fruticosa Linn and Lespedeza bicolor Turcz is about 71% in comparison with of Lespedeza daurica, showing that Lespedeza daurica has good salt tolerance and can be used as good herbage. In the experimental plot of saline-alkali soil with higher degree, AmorpHa fruticosa Linn and Lespedeza bicolor Turcz grow very slowly.AmorpHa fruticosa Linn and Lespedeza bicolor Turcz have certain saline-alkali tolerance in the germination of seeds and the plant culture of saline-alkali soil. As one of tree seeds of affoestation, they can be planted in Songnen grassland with low degree of saline-alkali soil.
